Resin Flooring Team Leader – Industrial Flooring – Shropshire

Shropshire | £35,000–£45,000 | Permanent, Full Time | UK travel, early starts and some weekend work

If you know resin flooring properly and you're already the person people look to when something needs sorting on site, this could be a great next step.

As Team Leader, you'll take a small team of around two to six people out to projects across the UK and become the buffer between the site team and the Directors...That's a big part of why this job exists. They need someone they can trust to take ownership of what is happening on site without every decision finding its way back to them.

Because jobs don't always run exactly as planned. Access changes. The customer needs something moving. You realise you need another bit of kit. Someone on the team needs some direction. Timings shift.

As Team Leader, you'll deal with it. You'll make the sensible call, speak to the customer where needed and keep the job moving.

You're not being brought in to stand at the side and tell everyone else what to do either, this is still very much a hands-on job. You need to know resin flooring, understand the preparation, materials, equipment and process, and be able to work alongside the team when the job needs it.

As Team Leader, you'll also be the person thinking ahead. Have we got everything we need for tomorrow? Are we where we should be with the job? Is everyone working safely? Does someone need a bit more guidance? Is there something we need to tell the customer now rather than wait until it becomes a problem?

The formal side covers safety, RAMS, toolbox talks, keeping the work on schedule, making sure the team has the right resources and communicating with the client throughout the project.

But really, it comes down to being dependable. The team themselves are good, you're not walking into a people problem. Some of the guys are technically very strong, but they might not always want to be the person having the awkward conversation or deciding what happens next.

As Team Leader, you'll give them that bit of confidence and direction, and your work here is varied too.

There are normally around six or seven projects happening each week and they can be anywhere in the UK. One week you might be fairly close to Telford, the next you could be heading much further north.

Projects generally last around three to five days and start times depend on where you're going and what the site needs. There will be early starts and some weekend work, so you do need to be happy with that way of working.

In return, if you're contracting at the moment, there's something quite appealing about the stability here with five days work guaranteed. A permanent salary of £35,000 - £45,000. And you still get the variety of being out on site rather than finding yourself behind a desk all week.

You might already be a Team Leader, Lead Installer or Supervisor, or you might be the person who is already doing half of this without having the title.

As Team Leader, the important thing is that you know resin flooring, you can lead a small team & when something changes on site your first thought is usually how you're going to sort it, not who you can pass it to.
